2020 Lyra New York
WINTER BAROQUE MASTERCLASS
The Music of HANDEL
Saturday, All Day
February 15, 2020
New York City
10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
The Masterclass is specifically designed for opera singers of all voice types and voice sizes. No age limit.
Opera singers less familiar with the Baroque period, can find themselves in a situation where they are asked to sing the music of Handel or other Baroque composers with a 'modern' orchestra, and/or with an 'historically informed' orchestra or ensemble. If this is you, or if you are already involved singing Baroque music, this Masterclass is created to help you navigate your success both vocally and musically, while making sure that you are 'staying within your technique' and honoring your voice, yet singing with a deeper understanding of the Baroque styles from ornamentation to cadenzas, dramatic intent and Baroque gesture, trills, and historical references translated into information applicable to today's singer.
