Arthur Levy is on the faculty of Mannes College of Music and formerly as well, Manhattan School of Music in New York City; he has been a vocal consultant and master class teacher at the Glimmerglass Opera and the Roundabout Theatre and has taught at the State University of New York at Purchase, and at the opera house in Stuttgart, Germany. He is also a faculty member at the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, in Waimea, Hawaii. Mr. Levy has also taught singers in the Metropolitan Opera Young Artist Development Program. He works with singers who appear in all the major opera houses of the world, including great world renowned MET tenor Yonghoon Lee and lyric tenor Charles Castronovo, and a number of Tony award winning Musical Theatre performers. He has appeared on CBS 60 Minutes, with his student Audra Mcdonald and internationally renowned singers as Elizabeth Futral, Hao Jiang Tian, James Valenti, William Burden, Ricardo Rivera, Won Whi Choi, Stephen Powell, and Broadway star Marin Mazzie, In the music theatre world he has worked and coached such luminary theatre and movie stars as Stockard Channing, Meryl Streep, Oliver Platt, Lauren Graham, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Leah Michelle (of “Glee”) He has performed as tenor soloist in both opera and oratorio and is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and has had additional studies at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He is a member of the American Guild of Musical Artists and National Association of Teachers of Singing.
Maestro Steven M. Crawford is among the most versatile musicians on the classical scene today. He has conducted in opera companies and orchestras around the United States, has accompanied the worlds finest singers, and is in the top tier of coaches in the opera world. Maestro Crawford will return this season to KY Opera to conduct Tom Cipullo’s Glory Denied. His past conducting engagements include performances with the Metropolitan Opera (La Bohème, Cavalleria Rusticana, Pagliacci, Faust and Madama Butterfly), Cincinnati Opera, Greater Miami Opera, Syracuse Opera, Kentucky Opera, Dayton Opera, Nevada Opera, Chelsea Opera and Opera Idaho. He has also conducted a number of world and NYC premieres, including A Chekhov Trilogy by Richard Wargo, Honor by Christian Mcleer, and the Mark of Cain by Matthew Harris. His positions (past and present) include principal conductor of the Greater Miami Opera, principal conduc- tor of Land of Enchantment Opera, and principal conductor/artistic advisor of Opera Idaho. He has been engaged as conductor by the New World Symphony as well as cover to Kurt Mazur with the New York Philharmonic. An active accompanist, Maestro Crawford has performed in recital with Håkan Hagegåard, Ortrun Wenkel, Sue Patchell, Mallory Walker, and many others. He has worked extensively as a coach with Sherrill Milnes, Tom Krause, and Aprile Milo.
A long-time proponent of training both singers and instrumentalists, Maestro Crawford has been Music Director of Land of Enchantment Opera, is senior coach for the Vann Vocal Institute, and has conducted the New York premieres of Henry Mollicone’s Lady- bird and Kitty Braselton’s Fireworks for Hunter College. He has conducted at University of Illinois, Portland State University and Prelude to Performance, and in 2009 he spear- headed the training of instrumentalists for the Bel Canto institute of Firenze, IT, a program to which he returned in the summer of 2019.
Richard Nechamkin is a conductor, pianist, and vocal coach with a repertoire of over 75 operas. He is currently the conductor/assistant conductor for Mississippi Opera, and assistant conductor of the Natchez Festival of Music. He has been the conductor for the Atlantic Chamber Orchestra, Johanna Meier Opera Institute, New York Lyric Opera, New York Opera Theatre and Ottocento Opera Company. Previously, he was Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Y Sinfonietta. Richard Nechamkin has been on staff at New York City Opera, New York Grand Opera, Hudson Valley Opera, and others. He has accompanied Montserrat Caballe, Susanne Marsee, and Gabriella Tucci, and has played for the voice studios of Renata Scotto, Joshua Hecht, the Castels, and Gary Glaze. He is the founder, artistic director, and conductor of New York Opera Forum.
